‘Better lucky than good’
MENDOTA — Tyson Lorenzen and luck were on the Princeton Tigers’ side in Wednesday’s Mendota 1A sectional soccer semifinals.
Lorenzen scored both goals in the Tigers 2-0 win over the host Trojans. The first one came on a free kick from about 50 yards which found its way past the Mendota defense and through the hands of the Trojans keeper with 19:02 left in the first half. His second was a ricocheted shot early in the second half.
“It’s better to be lucky than good,” PHS coach Jason Bird said. “The ball bounced our way that time and we got lucky they had a couple opportunities and the ball didn’t go in for them and that’s good for the Tigers.”
