MANLIUS — Katelyn DeBrock, daughter of Robert and Jennifer DeBrock, has been named Bureau Valley High School’s Daughter of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award and Scholarship winner for the 2013-14 school year.
Chosen by the faculty and senior class, Katelyn was selected on the basis of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
Katelyn has been on the honor roll throughout high school and was inducted into the National Honor Society as a junior. She is active in various school and community activities.
She is involved in Spanish Club, Family and Consumer Science Club, Newsletter Staff, Chorus, Cooking Club, and English Lab Tutor. She also was a nominee of the Elks Teen of the Month for October. She is involved in various church activities and volunteers at Freedom House and PADS.
She plans on attending Sauk Valley Community College and transfer to a university to study accounting.
The scholarship is sponsored by the Princeton-Illinois Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
