WALNUT — Bureau Valley North hosted the Bureau Valley Elementary Conference Music Festival on Oct. 22. More than 120 students from Bradford, Bureau Valley North, Bureau Valley South, Ladd, LaMoille, Malden, Neponset and Ohio participated in the choir and band music festival.

The choir was directed by Denise Ewers. Ewers is the choral director at Dixon High School and Reagan Middle School in Dixon. The accompanist was Judy (Andersen) Glaser of Walnut. The band was directed by Eric Hollaway. Hollaway teaches Grades 5-12 band, Grades 9-12 choir and a music appreciation course in Kewnaee schools.

The students rehearsed all afternoon to prepare for the concert. This festival allows students the opportunity to perform in a large ensemble and to work with guest conductors. The band students were required to audition for their seating placement.
