Throughout her lifetime she worked at Bell Telephone Co., Princeton School District and Allen Lumber Yard. When she retired, she moved to Hickory, N.C., and then eventually to Pensacola, Fla.

Mary Lou was an avid bridge player and attained the distinction of Life Master. Throughout the years she volunteered with the Cub Scouts, Campfire Girls, 4-H, Newcomers, Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and the Frye Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, where she served as president for two years. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of the parishes she attended during her lifetime. She was a very lively and vivacious person, and enjoyed many activities such as line dancing, traveling, knitting, cross stitching, baking and spending time with her friends and family.
