Princeton church hosts Groves in concert

PRINCETON — Award-winning Christian artist and songwriter Sara Groves is coming to Princeton for a Harvest Festival concert hosted by the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton.

Evangelical Covenant Church Rev. Derek Boggs said the live concert will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 17. The concert is open and free to the community. Seats are limited, so the church is asking people to call the church office at 815-875-2124 to reserve seats.

The Evangelical Covenant Church, located at 24 N. Main St., has had an annual harvest festival for many years as a way to give thanks for God’s blessings in all of life and to share those blessings with each other, Boggs said. This year, Groves will be the church’s guest of honor.

“Sara is a gifted singer, songwriter and musician,” Boggs said. “The themes of her music are simple, yet profound, as she explores the ways in which God meets people in the midst of daily life with its challenges and joys: Parenting, marriage, love and loss.”

Boggs said Groves has won three Dove music awards, the CCM’s (Contemporary
Christian Music) Artist of the Year Award in 2012, and was also included in Christianity Today’s magazine as one of the women to watch in 2012.  Groves has also become a spokesperson about the problem of international human trafficking and slavery.

“Many of Sara’s fans have found in her music help in their search for identity, hope in times of suffering, and healing from past wounds,” Boggs said. “The Covenant Church is honored that Sara is willing to come to Princeton.”

Again, the concert is free and open to the public, however, since seating is limited, people are asked to reserve a free seat by calling the church office at 815-875-2124.  Doors open at 6:45 p.m.
