Honoring our veterans

A variety of services and celebrations are being planned in honor of Veterans Day in Bureau County. Some schools which remain in session on this Nov. 11 holiday are hosting programs, including Bureau Valley which will feature veteran/Princeton Police Chief Tom Root at an 8:30 a.m. assembly; Princeton High School offers a 7:15 a.m. breakfast followed by a program at the school’s flag pole; and Princeton’s St. Louis School will host an assembly at 1 p.m. at Harkrader Hall with a dessert reception to follow for all veterans/military.

A few municipalities are also hosting events, including Princeton, which has set its Veterans Day ceremony for 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Park. A small reception will follow at the Legion Post at 1549 W. Peru St. In Ladd, services will be at 10:50 a.m. at War Memorial Park. The Bureau County Republican will publish other Veterans Day services as they come in.
