BCGS will meet Dec. 5

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Genealogical Society will hold its annual combined November/December monthly meeting on Dec. 5. Due to the holidays this meeting replaces the regular meetings for the two months.

Prior to the 7 p.m. meeting and program at the BCGS library, 629 S. Main St. in Princeton, the public is also invited to a social hour beginning there at 6 p.m. All those attending are asked to bring a finger food appetizer or dessert to be shared.

The program for the evening will be an audience participation on the theme of "How Do You Celebrate the Holidays?" Do you have family traditions that have been passed down, or have you created some new ones? Are there decorations, memories or recipes with special importance? Anyone who is willing to share with the audience in this discussion is asked to prepare to speak for a few minutes. Items can also be shown and talked about.

The BCGS library will be closed for the holidays from the end of the day Dec. 20 until reopening on the morning of Jan. 2, 2014. During that time if a person needs to use the research library, an appointment may be arranged by calling 815-879-3133 or 815-303-7386. Regular hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
