Kaylee Halberg of Sheffield was recently awarded the Newcomer of the Year Award by the Illinois Environmental Health Association at the annual Education Conference in Bloomington.
This award recognizes an individual with two years or less experience in the field who has exemplified what it means to be an environmental health professional. The candidates must be nominated by a supervisor and approved by the IEHA.
Kaylee graduated from Illinois State University in May 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Environmental Health. After serving an internship with the Bureau County Health Department in Princeton, she has served as sanitarian for Marshall and northern Peoria counties where she inspects and handles nuisance complaints for all establishments that sell food or beverages, issues permits and inspects water wells and private septic systems and does West Nile Virus surveillance.
