The LaMoille/Ohio Lady Lions warmed up on their home court Thursday, toppling Leland/Earlville 54-45 in Little Ten Conference play.
Shiela Browning had the hot hand for the Lady Lions, scoring 24 points. Vanessa Martinez added 15 points and matched teammate Kaitlyn Hughes’ 14 rebounds.
Rockridge 47, Hall 45: The Lady Devils made its first trip in Three Rivers Conference South Division play, falling to the host Rockets Thursday in Edgington. The game was close throughout with Rockridge holding a 9-7 lead after the first quarter, 23-21 at the half and 37-33 at the end of three.
Hall coach Josiah Martin said a five-point lead or deficit seemed like a lot in such a close game.
“I was very proud of the girls for their effort from the opening tip to literally the last second,” Martin said. “Both teams played extremely hard, and I think the final score shows how good of a game it was. This game came down to the little things, and tonight Rockridge executed those little things just a little bit better than us.”
Senior point guard Brenna Faletti led the Lady Devils with 13 points. Becca Herrmann added 10 and Ellie Herrmann had eight.
