Girls basketball

At Erie: Bureau Valley has opened the Warkins Memorial Cardinal Classic on a roll, winning their first three games in pool play.

On Thursday, posted a 47-46 win over Rockridge. Nicole Bornsheuer pumped in 20 points and Darcy Kepner and Val Reuter added nine each.

The Storm beat to Ridgewood 46-44 on Friday morning and beat Stockton 48-44 later Friday. Bornsheuer led the Storm with 14 points against Ridgewood while Irini Petros had 16 and Kepner 10 against Stockton.

At Prophetstown: The Hall Lady Devils dropped both pool games on the opening day of the Warkins Memorial Classic on Thursday. First up came a 45-34 loss to rival LaSalle-Peru. Hall later fell to Hinckley-Big Rock 48-32.

The Lady Devils met Riverdale Friday evening.

LaSalle-Peru (3-0) will play for the championship.

At St. Bede: In Friday afternoon action at the Lady Bruins Christmas Classic, St. Bede beat Princeton 53-27, Eureka beat IVC 43-39, Kewanee beat Henry 40-12, Seneca beat LaMoille/Ohio 52-35,  Fieldcrrest beat Princeton 57-28 and Mendota beat Eureka 54-32.

Saturday’s finals will begin at 11 a.m. at the Academy. Here's is the day's schedule:

Ninth place: Princeton vs. Henry, 11 a.m.

Seventh place: LaMoille/Ohio vs. Kewanee, 12:30 p.m.

Fifth place: Seneca vs, IVC, 2 p.m.

Third place: St. Bede vs. Eureka, 3:30 p.m.

Title: Fieldcrest vs. Mendota, 5 p.m.
