PRINCETON — Bureau Putnam Area Rural Transit (BPART) announced it will be relocating its central dispatch and administrative offices to the Princeton Amtrak Depot, 107 Bicentennial Drive, Princeton, on Jan. 6.
The purpose for the move is to create a more central and visible location for BPART to serve its ridership. BPART’s dispatch operations was previously located in Gateway Services main building and will be vacated and reused for growing needs within Gateway.
BPART’s occupancy of the depot is a partnership between the city of Princeton and Gateway Services Inc., which acts as an administrative agent for BPART. BPART staff will be responsible for assisting with train arrival and departures from the station from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week, and Gateway staff will be responsible for upkeep on the building.
BPART is a demand response public transportation service open to all citizens of Bureau and Putnam counties. It is a partnership between Gateway Services Inc., St. Margaret’s Hospital, Bureau County Senior Citizen’s Association, and Putnam County Achievement Service. Funding for BPART is provided in part through federal and state of Illinois operating grants.
Fare rates to ride BPART are $1.50 per ride within a city and $2.50 per rider within the county, with special fare rates to Peoria, LaSalle-Peru, IVCC, Ottawa, Utica, Sterling-Rock Falls and Dixon. For more information or to schedule a ride, call 877-874-8813 or visit www.ridebpart.org.
