SPRING VALLEY — The man allegedly involved in the shooting of a 22-year-old Ladd male on Dec. 20, turned himself in to the Chicago Police Department.

Joshua E. Nelson, 19, originally thought to be of Chicago, but has the last known address of 551 Eighth St., LaSalle, was arrested on a Bureau County Warrant for home invasion. He was returned to the Bureau County Jail on Dec. 30.

According to police, the shooting was the result of an illegal drug transaction, which presumably took place just before midnight on Dec. 20. The Ladd male was shot in the lower back at the residence of 505 W. Cleveland St., Spring Valley. He was able to dial 911 at 12:05 a.m. from a location near Cleveland and Strong streets. He was taken to St. Margaret's Hospital for the gunshot wound and a grazing lesion to his arm. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police interviewed several individuals, and two suspects were identified. Police immediately put out a warrant for Nelson. The name and information of the second suspect has not yet been released. The investigation continues.
