Winter Fun Day

BUDA — Mason Memorial Public Library in Buda will have a Winter Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for children in Grades K-8. The event will feature crafts, a movie, pop and popcorn. Sign up for this event by Friday by stopping at the library or by calling 309-895-7701.

Blood drive

NEPONSET — An American Red Cross blood drive will be from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Martin Engineering, 1 Martin Place, Neponset. To make an appointment to donate, visit redcrossblood.org or call 800-RED CROSS.

Woodcrafters meeting

PRINCETON — The next woodcrafters meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bureau County Senior Center, 16 W. Marion St. in Princeton. Anyone interested in woodworking is invited to attend.

Trivia Night

DEPUE — A trivia night will be held Jan. 25 at the DePue VFW, with proceeds benefitting DePue Elementary. The cost is $10 person and there will be eight to 10 people per table. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the game starts at 7 p.m. To reserve a table, call 815-326-9599.

BCGS meeting

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Society library, 629 S. Main St. in Princeton. The public is invited to attend. After a very brief business meeting, Patrick Hodge will present the program titled “Reverend Bertram A. Dickens: Bureau County Preacher and Nephew of Charles Dickens, the English Author.” Hodge, a local member and treasurer of BCGS, has researched deeply into the history of this minister and his connections to Charles Dickens. The Rev. Bertram Dickens served in northern Illinois for more than 40 years as a Methodist Episcopal minister with 14 of those years served in Bureau County.
