The Putnam County/Hall co-op wrestling squad split their efforts between two tournaments Saturday and showed well in both.
At the varsity level, PC/Hall took eight wrestlers to the Prairie Central Tournament in Fairbury. Of the eight PC/Hall wrestlers, five placed in their weight class.
At the 152-pound weight class, junior Ben Garland placed third overall. Earning fourth place finishes, were seniors Mario Flores (126) and Matt Briddick (195). Placing fifth were junior Cole Elliot (160) and senior co-captain Nathan Tonozzi (170).
Argenta-Oreana took home first place as a team with 177 points. PC/Hall took 10th place with 75 points. Head coach Jerry Kriewald was happy with the results of his small squad.
• Three PC/Hall wrestlers placed second in the Amboy High School junior varsity tournament - junior R.J. Copeland (145) and sophomores Luke McCook and Evan Kiphart (195). Nick Bouxsein (160) placed third and Josh McConnell (170) was fourth place.
• At Polo: St. Bede wrestled at the Polo Tournament. Top finishers for the Bruins were James Peacock (132) and Andre Hurr (152), who placed second. Other place-finishers were fourth-place Adam Hunter (145) and sixth place Spencer Barnes (170) and John Barnes (285).
