Bruin wrestlers sweep TRAC duo

St. Bede wrestlers swept Riverdale 36-33 and Sterling Newman 41-30 Thursday night in a pair of Three Rivers Conference victories.

The wins raised the Bruins record to 4-2 in their first year wrestling in the Three RIvers.

“We’re 4-2 in conference now. That’s awesome for a young team like us. It’s a true blessing to see those guys accomplish that,” SBA coach Sean Hobson said. “It was an amazing night. The kids are starting to turn the corner. Newman’s got several state ranked wrestlers. I told the kids I believe in them and they’ve got to believe in themselves.”

Bruins going 2-0 were Jordan Elnicki (113), James Peacock (132), Andre Hurr (152) and John Barnes (285). St. Bede’s wrestlers going 1-1 on the night were Carter Funfsin (106), Juan Flores (120), John Kerasotes (126), Adam Hunter (145), Jeff Barnes 160, Sam Bennett, (182) Joel Caulfield (195) and Brandon Edens (220),
