Putnam County advances to TCC finals

At Ottawa: The Tri-County Conference Tournament play Tuesday saw top-seeded Putnam County top Roanoke-Benson 55-38 and No. 2 Peoria Christian beat Marquette 61-49.

Stephanie Wilson led the Lady Panthers with 17 points, Carly Gonet added 13 and Daniela Pavlovich had 12.

Putnam County and Peoria Christian will meet for the championship at 8 p.m. Thursday.

On Monday, Peoria Christian topped DePue 80-17 and host Marquette defeated Henry 46-27.

At Hinckley: LaMoille/Ohio fell to Hinckley-Big Rock 61-29 in the opening night of the Little Ten Conference Tournament. Vanessa Martinez led the Lady Lions (7-13) with 14 points and Shiela Browning added 11.

The Lady Lions will return to action at 7 p.m. Thursday vs. No. 7 Earlville-Leland, which fell to No. 2 Serena 52-18.

In other games, Paw Paw defeated Hiawatha 52-37.

At Annawan: Three-time defending champ and top-seeded Annawan opened Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament play with a 81-50 win over No. 8 ROWVA. Celina VanHyfte and Cierra Davis each scored 20 points.

The Bravettes (14-4) advance to Thursday’s tournament semifinals at West Central High School in Biggsville.

At Byron: The St. Bede Lady Bruins broke out in their final game in the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Tournament at Byron with a 56-42 win over Rockford Christian Life on Monday.

Raley Mauck led the Lady Bruins’ break-out with 17 points. Laura Sickley had 15 points and Hanna Bima and Lexie Miranda added 10 each.

Earlier in the day, the Lady Bruins fell to Rockford Christian 49-40. Bima had 15 points.

St. Bede finished with a 1-3 record at Byron.

Mendota 52, Hall 23: The Lady Trojans built a 49-10 lead after three quarters in Monday’s make-up game at Hall. Emily Hoscheid and Jenna Lusietto each scored seven points for the Lady Devils.
