Joshua B. Dunehew, 26, of Wyanet was arrested on Jan. 29 on a warrant for failure to appear and a separate charge of possession of a controlled substance.

The investigation by Deputy Mike Ori and Chief Deputy Timothy Trevier alleges Dunehew, on Jan, 27, while attempting to support an illegal substance addiction, unlawfully entered a residence in DePue, where he took possession of three firearms and the associated ammunition.

Further investigation led the Bureau County Sheriff’s investigators to Chicago, where investigators allege the weapons were traded or exchanged for an unspecified amount of a controlled substance. Additional criminal charges will be referred to Bureau County State’s Attorney Patrick Herrmann.

Through a cooperative investigation effort by Bureau County Sheriff’s Investigators and the Chicago Police Department, a search warrant was obtained and executed at an unidentified residence in Chicago where evidence of the Bureau County investigation, a large (unspecified) quantity of controlled substance and an unspecified amount of U.S. currency was recovered and seized. One unidentified male suspect was taken into custody by the Chicago Police authorities.
