OGLESBY — Illinois Valley Community College’s Continuing Education Center will offer the Applied Food Service Sanitation 15-hour course from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Feb. 19 to March 3 in Room CTC-123.

The course assists the manager or potential manager apply sanitation principles in the operation of a food service establishment. Students will learn to identify the causes of food-borne illness, identify and apply procedures for cleaning and sanitizing, recognize problems and potential solutions associated with the facility, equipment and layout. The course is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The Illinois code related to food service establishments will be discussed. During the last session, students will take the ServSafe Protection Food Manager exam which is required for the Certified Food Handler license in the state of Illinois.
