Mr. and Mrs. Richard Peterson will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday.

Richard “Dick” Peterson of New Bedford and the former Margaret “Maggie” Packee of Wethersfield were united in marriage Feb. 20, 1954, at Visitation Church in Kewanee. Given in marriage by her father, Charles Packee, Maggie was attended by her sister, Joan Packee, and her sister-in-law, Carola (Peterson) Englehart. Dick was attended by his friend, Myron Anderson, and his cousin, Jim Hopkins.

After a wedding trip along Route 66 through the southwest, Dick and Maggie made their home on a farm just outside of New Bedford, where they still reside. Together they raised four children, Joel Peterson of Rockford, Chris Peterson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jeff Peterson of Wyanet and Rita Peterson of Sheffield. They also have eight grandchildren, Tracy, Taylor, Tyler, Lauren, Kris, Greg, Brittany and Maggie; and three great-grandchildren, Ronnie, John and Colby.

Dick and Maggie will be honored with a family dinner on their anniversary. Cards may be sent to the couple at 7046 Backbone Road, Tampico, IL 61283. They request that gifts be omitted.
