The Putnam County Lady Panthers earned the right to come home, defeating host Roanoke-Benson 51-36 to capture the Roanoke 1A regional championship Thursday night.
With their second straight regional championship, the Lady Panthers will return home to face Indian Creek at 8 p.m. Tuesday at RM Germano Gymnasium.
Indian Creek was a 51-31 winner over LaMoille/Ohio at Earlville.
At Wethersfield: Annawan toppled AlWood 98-40 to capture the regional championship and punch a ticket to the PC Sectonal. Celina VanHyfte led Annawan with 20 points,
The No. 1 ranked Bravettes will face Serena at 6 p.m. Tuesday at PC. Serena beat Little Ten foe Newark 61-48 at Dwight.
In other 1A regional finals of note, Amboy beat Three Rivers rival Erie 37-28 at Amboy and host HBR beat Elgin Harvest Christian Academy 62-35. With its fourth straight regional title, Annawan (27-2) advances to the Fieldcrest Sectional, where it will face Peoria Christian at 6 p.m. Monday.
Biggsville 2A regional: Sherrard, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A, topped Three Rivers South rival Orion 46-32 for the regional crown Thursday at West Central High School.
The Chargers had played the Tigers to a three-point loss, missing a potential game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer. On Thursday, they pulled even at 31-31 before Sherrard went on a 15-1 run to end the game.
Riley Strandgard, an Illinois State University softball recruit, had 19 points for Sherrard, nine in the fourth quarter. Katie Conway 10 points in the loss for Orion (11-18).
In another 2A regional finals of note, Oregon beat Sterling Newman 74-32 and Peoria Christian downed Knoxville 60-51 at Farmington.
Oregon will face Prophetstown, a 43-23 winner over Three Rivers rival Riverdale at St. Bede, in sectional semifinals at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Aurora.
