Gary Stabler

NEPONSET — Gary G. Stabler, 62, of Neponset died at 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at his home.

He was born Aug. 2, 1951, in Kewanee, the son of Charles W. and Fern L. (Hand) Stabler.

Gary graduated from Neponset High School in 1970. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He had worked the axle line at Pines Great Dane Trailer. In his early years he farmed and until recently had worked for area farmers on their farms. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Neponset American Legion Post 875. He enjoyed being outdoors on a tractor.

Survivors include his mother of Neponset; a son, Jason Stabler of Neponset; his twin brother, Jerry (Debbie) Stabler of Neponset; a sister, Sherry (Roger) Cannon of Marengo; two nephews, Matt (Heather) Stabler and John (Kristen) Cannon; and three nieces, Shelly (Ron) Bychowski, Jenny Stabler and Lindsay Stabler.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Jack Lee Stabler.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee with Pastor Andrew Hopp officiating. Inurnment will be in West Neponset Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Neponset American Legion.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 21, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
