William Thrasher

HARMON — William D. Thrasher, 78, of Harmon died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at his home in Harmon.

Born Oct. 10, 1935, in Dixon, the son of Robert and Inez (Allen) Thrasher, he married Shirley Dyche March 13, 1965, in Walnut. She preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 2001.

He was a member of the Harmon United Methodist Church, the Moose Club in Dixon and the Elks Club in Dixon.

Surviving are two daughters, Kimberly (Billy) Bryant of Rock Falls and Christina (Wes) Coan of Flovilla, Ga.; two sons, Rich (Marlee) Cox of Colona and Jim (Jeannie) Cox of Rock Springs, Wyo.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Robert (Eleanor) Thrasher of Dixon; one sister, Lois (Art) Burgess on Harmon; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Margaret Dempsey and family of Harmon.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and six sisters.

Cremation rites were accorded. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with the Rev. Leanne Keate, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery.

A time of sharing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established for colon cancer research.
