SPRING VALLEY — The Spring Valley educational forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, at Spring Valley City Hall. One of the main focuses of the meeting is to seek ways to promote education to build a stronger work force in the region, to replace employees that will soon be retiring and to support expansion of businesses and industry, as well as future economic development.

Lenten meditation and luncheon
PRINCETON — Hampshire Colony Congregational Church will host a Lenten noontime musical meditation and luncheon on Wednesday, beginning at 12:10 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The musical performance will be by Cheryl Bebej and the lunch will be macaroni and cheese. A free-will offering will be accepted.
BUREAU — The Bureau Sonshine Puppeteers will present a spring Easter Lenten performance, with a special blacklight show, at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the First Congregational Church of Bureau. Refreshments will be served after the performance.
PRINCETON — The Princeton Moose Lodge will hold a St. Patrick’s dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the lodge. Music will be provided by the Generics Goodies Band. A dinner will be served from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Genealogy Guild meeting
OTTAWA — The LaSalle County Genealogy Guild will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Guild Library. 115 W. Glover St., Ottawa. Janice A. Fritsch will speak about Civil War military records.
SPRING VALLEY — La Leche League of the Illinois Valley, a breastfeeding support group, will meet at 10 a.m. March 20 in Spring Valley. This monthly group helps mothers gain knowledge and support from other breastfeeding moms. March’s discussion will revolve around, but is not limited to, “Avoiding/Overcoming Difficulties.” Expecting moms are encouraged to attend, as well as new and experienced moms. OHIO — The Ohio Fire Department will host an open house from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5 for all residents served by the Ohio Fire Protection District. Coffee, soda and snacks will be served and there will be a 50/50 drawing.
