Artist visits Peru business to share initiative

PERU — Girlfriends … the bra specialists located in Peru will have an open house from 2 to 6 p.m. March 13. Gift certificates will be given away through the fitting service the store provides.

Deb Drager, a Kansas resident and Streator native, is a faux artist and designer. She has been a friend of Kathy Glascock, owner of Girlfriends … the bra specialists, since grade school in the mid 1970s.

After Drager’s own experience with breast cancer in her mid-30s, she realized her artwork could help share the message of beauty, healing and love: reaching people who had their own journey with cancer. She then launched the Caring with Colors initiative.

When Glascock shared the news she was opening a bra boutique in 2008, Drager provided her artist’s touch to each fitting room and throughout the store. As Girlfriends offers mastectomy fittings and post surgical lingerie, Dragers’ touches have directly been experienced by hundreds of women who have experienced their own journey with cancer.
