Prairie Arts Center Notes

Children’s art classes

PRINCETON — The Prairie Arts Council is now offering children’s art classes for ages 7-12 on the first and third Saturday of each month beginning today, Saturday, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. at the Prairie Arts Center, 24 Park Ave. East in Princeton. The cost for each child is $12 for members, $15 for non-members. A discount will be given for two or more siblings in the same family. March 1 begins a two-month long “Impressionists Series” where children will learn to paint a specific work of art from Monet and VanGogh. Children will work with a variety of mediums including acrylic, watercolor and pastels. Classes will continue throughout the year. Watercolor class

PRINCETON — The Prairie Arts Center will offer a four-week watercolor class for beginners from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. on Monday nights beginning March 10 at the Prairie Arts Center. This class is intended for the beginner with no experience in watercolorpainting. Taught by Mary Michael of Princeton, students will learn the basics of watercolor painting including brush styles and techniques, dry versus wet technique and how to obtain varying shades of color. Students will practice techniques in class and at home. This class is for high school age through adult. The cost is $45 for members and $50 for non-members.
