‘Beginning Bead Embroidery’ workshop

PRINCETON — The Covered Bridge Quilters Guild will hold a workshop, “Beginning Bead Embroidery,” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Christ Community Church, 1719 Euclid Ave. in Princeton. The time listed in Saturday’s BCR was incorrect.

Lenten service

BUREAU — The Hennepin Church Bells will present their musical melodies at the First Congregational Church of Bureau at 7 p.m. April 2. Refreshments will be served after the performance.

St. Matthew Lenten service

PRINCETON — St. Matthew Lutheran Church will host Pastor Kim Lee-Brown from St. John’s Lutheran in Princeton on April 2. Lee-Brown will discuss change of plans. There will be a soup supper at 6 p.m. followed by the service at 7 p.m.

Lenten meditation and luncheon

PRINCETON — Hampshire Colony Congregational Church will host a Lenten noontime musical meditation and luncheon on Wednesday, beginning at 12:10 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The musical performance will be by the Butler family and the lunch will be baked potato bar. A free-will offering will be accepted.

Museum hours

WYANET — The Wyanet Historical Society Museum will begin its 2014 season on April 4. Hours for the museum are from 1 to 4 p.m. every Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 815-699-2459 or 815-699-2559.

DAR meeting

PRINCETON — The Princeton-Illinois chapter NSDAR will meet at 9 a.m. April 5 at the Bureau County Republican meeting room. Coffee time will begin at 9:30 a.m. State Regent Pamela Petersen Bork will present the program, “Ties that bind our past to our future.” She will also be present when the chapter dedicates its anniversary tree at city hall at 1:30 p.m.

Open house

OHIO — The Ohio Fire Department will host an open house from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5 for all residents served by the Ohio Fire Protection District. Coffee, soda and snacks will be served and there will be a 50/50 drawing.

Spaghetti dinner

LASALLE — Lighted Way and Uptown Grill are co-sponsoring the annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 4:30 to 8 p.m. April 7 at Uptown Grill in LaSalle. To purchase tickets, call the school at 815-224-1345 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday or purchase them at the door. The cost is $8. Carry-ous will be available.

Just for Kix registration

PRINCETON — Just for Kix has announced registration for the 2014-15 season will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12 at the Princeton Arts Academy, home of the Just For Kix program. Torri Price is the director for the program.

Spring concert

LASALLE — The Illinois Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra will hold its spring concert featuring pianist Simon Tiffin at 3:30 p.m. April 12 at LaSalle-Peru High School in the Matthiessen Auditorium. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available at the door.

Trivia Night

LAMOILLE — The LaMoille and Ohio Athletic Boosters will host a Trivia Night April 12 at the LaMoille Lions Club, 308 Howard St. in LaMoille. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and trivia will begin at 7 p.m. The entry fee is $100 per team, with six to 10 people on each team. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. Library activity

BUDA — Mason Memorial Public Library in Buda will invites children in Grades K-5 for games and activities from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. April 12 at the library.

Giving Tree Band performance

OGLESBY — The Giving Tree Band will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, April 18 in the Illinois Valley Community College’s Cultural Centre. The Henry Torpedo Boys, a local bluegrass band, will open the concert. The Giving Tree Band recently played at SXSW in Austin, Texas and the House of Blues in Chicago. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at eventbrite.com or at the door will availability lasts. IVSustainability and the Student Government Association are sponsoring the concert along with IV Cellular.

Funding available

PRINCETON — Bureau County United Way is now accepting applications for 2015 funding. Applicants must be a 501c3 not-for-profit organization. Applications are available through the Bureau County United Way office by calling 815-872-0821. Applications must reach the Bureau County United Way on or before May 5.
