Mike Rosploch and his 4-year old daughter Lily compete in Mr. SBA. Rosploch’s performance raised $13,400.

PERU — St. Bede Academy raised right under $50,000 March 1 with its fourth year of Mr. SBA held at Celebrations 150. The total made this year’s event the most successful Mr. SBA to date.

Eight men competed for the title of Mr. SBA. Mike Rosploch, along with his 4-year old daughter Lily, and a number of St. Bede students won with a meaningful father-daughter dance. Rosploch, a St. Bede alumnus and football coach, said his daughter Lily picked the song “Timber” by Pitbull for their act. The song was chosen to honor Cora Peters, a high school senior student from Bureau Valley who died this past December after a battle with cancer. Rosploch’s performance alone totaled about $13,400 toward the grand total raised Saturday night.

The eight performances by contestants Matt Cessna, Mike Brown, Father Ronald Margherio, Randy Martinaitis, Brother Geroge Matuoka, Dave Hancock and Deacon Tom Jagiella, and Mike Rosploch entertained an audience of more than 450 attendees.

More than 90 St. Bede students and 20 adult volunteers were involved to make the show a success. George Leynaud served as master of ceremonies and his wife, Patti, as Mr. SBA chairwoman.
