Bureau Valley High School Spanish 2 students designed new soccer jerseys for the Argentina national soccer jersey using symbols to illustrate the country’s history and culture.

MANLIUS — Spanish 2 students are Bureau Valley High School took a different approach to learning about Argentina. The students formed groups to redesign the Argentine national soccer jersey based on important national features they wanted to include as symbols on the jersey.

After choosing at least four symbols to represent Argentina, they designed a jersey accordingly on either an actual T-shirt or on poster board. The students presented their final designs to the class with explanations as to why those symbols were picked. Each class then voted for the top two jerseys.

The top four designs were displayed in the commons and were voted on by the student populations. The first-place jersey was designed by Savannah Dean, Sidney Kolb, Sam Stocking and Emily Wall. The second-place jersey was designed by Maddie Dahl, Danielle Dzurisin, Anna Harshman and Darcy Kepner. The third-place jersey was designed by Trey Dale, Drew Fordham, Kyle Reilly and Jamen Rinehart. The fourth-place jersey was designed by Harrison Brousseau, Tyler Gonigam, Chelsea Higgins and Rick Lootens.
