WYANET — Amelia Earhart will tell her story when Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholar Leslie Goddard presents “Amelia Earhart Before the Legend” at the Wyanet Library’s 2nd Thursday@the Library program at 6:30 p.m. today, Thursday.

Goddard brings the American aviator to life telling about her amazing exploits and dazzling achievements. The program will examine her upbringing, the many records that she set, and her ability to succeed in a male dominated world. In 1928, Earhart was the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean by airplane and then became the first woman to fly solo across the same ocean in 1932. Earhart was a media darling in the day, yet most talked about details of her life begin and end with her disappearance.

Goddard, a Darien, Ill., resident presents Earhart’s biography in first person brought to the R.A. Sapp Library through a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council Grant.
