Tigers, Gators bring home silver medals

The Princeton High School Special Olympics basketball team brought home silver medals from the State Games at Illinois State University.

The Tigers lost game one to Homewood-Flossmore 60-46, but came back to beat Bradley Bourbonnais 53-33 for the second-place title.

PHS Olympians include captain Bayly Reed, Harold Ramsey, Nathan Sieg, Scott Neahring, Justin Smith, Zach Lawson, Kyla Kissick, James Hansen, Steven Behrends and Bradley Kirk.

Smith and Kissick were winners of the Spirit/Sportsmanship Award

Coaches were Andy Puck, Pat Marquis and Noreen McConnell.

The Gator Girls of Gateway Services also brought home silver medals with a second-place finish.

More than 1,600 athletes competed on 132 teams and in individual skills competition at the tournament. Athletes participated in five categories of play and were divisioned within each category based on their age and skill level.
