PERU — The second annual Piano Workshop & PIANO KIDZ, sponsored by Music Suite 408, North Central Illinois ARTworks and Horine’s Pianos Plus, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m April 5 at the First Congregational Church of Peru, 1431 Fourth St., corner of Route 6 and West Street, with a 7 p.m. performance by guest artist/clinician Dr. Boban Martic.
The workshop is open to all piano educators and students of all ages and ability levels. The workshop is free to all piano educators of the community.
The workshop will feature age and ability appropriate activities for students. All students in the full-day workshop or half day, PIANO KIDZ, will receive a mini lesson or masterclass with Dr. Martic or a guest educator. Additional classes include African drumming, movement classes, notation reading games, a piano technology class, piano educator roundtable and a piano sale sponsored by David Horine, owner of Horine’s Pianos Plus. Pre-registration is encouraged and walk-ins are welcome.
Registration is $50 for the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. day; $35 for PIANO KIDZ (age 6-10) for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes on-site lunch and ticket to the 7 p.m. recital presented by Dr. Martic at the First Congregational Church of Peru. He will be assisted by Ottawa native and flutist, Leigh Ann Singer-Martic.
