Bureau County voters approved three of the four referendums in Tuesday's primary election ballot.
The tally to increase the maximum tax rate for the Tiskilwa Rural Fire Protection District from .30 to .40 percent of the value of all taxable property within the district in Tiskilwa received 168 yes votes to 139 no votes. Putnam County voters in one precinct also had this issue on the ballot with 44 yes votes compared to 18. That means the issue carried with 212 yes votes in the two counties to 157 no votes.
The village of Arlington issue to increase the general corporate tax not to exceed .4375 percent of the equalized assessed value of the taxable property received 25 yes votes to 13 no votes.
Cherry Grade School district voters overwhelmingly approved the deactivation of Cherry Grade School and to send pupils to Dimmick Community Consolidated School District in LaSalle County with 242 yes votes compared to 14 no voters.
The vote to allow the collection of an additional retailers occupation tax of .5 percent in the city of Spring Valley was denied by a margin of 327 opposed to 257 in favor of the issue.
