OGLESBY — The Illinois Valley Community College’s office of Business Services and Finance has earned a prestigious national budget presentation award for the seventh straight year.
IVCC’s 2013 budget received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The award “reflects (IVCC’s) commitment to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting,” the GFOA press release stated.
IVCC President Jerry Corcoran called the award “a significant accomplishment” and credited Cheryl Roelfsema, vice president for Business Services and Finance, and her department for the achievement.
“This award exemplifies a commitment to excellence in budgeting which is shared by our board, faculty and staff,” Roelfsema said.
To earn the award, IVCC had to satisfy nationally recognized standards for effective budget presentation as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.
“Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America,” said the GFOA, a nonprofit association serving 17,800 government finance professionals.
