Ronald Weidner

KEWANEE — Ronald M. “Harv” Weidner, 70, of rural Kewanee passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Kewanee Hospital Emergency Room.

Born Sept. 20, 1943, in Geneseo to E.J. and Emma (Jasper) Weidner, he married Bernadette M. “Bernie” VanDeVoorde Feb. 1, 1964, at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Geneseo. She survives.

He was a lifetime farmer in rural Osco and for more than 40 years in rural Kewanee. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Atkinson.

Also surviving are two sons, Bruce (Lynette) Weidner of Wyanet and David Weidner of Buda; three daughters, Cheryl Cardenas of Richmond, Calif., Linda Brier of Williamsport, Ind., and Diane Weidner of Yates City; nine grandchildren; one sister, Joan Richter of Osco; one sister-in-law, Julie Weidner of Erie; and one brother-in-law, Charles Dykeman of Silvis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Alisia Weidner; one brother, Kenneth; and one sister, Jean Dykeman.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Atkinson, with the Rev. S. Stephen Engelbrecht officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Atkinson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at the Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
