Area players selected for Illinois Valley All-Star game

Host Putnam County will play on both sides of the fence for Saturday’s third annual Illinois Valley All-Star Basketball Game at R.M. Germano Gymnasium.

Four Lady Panthers will suit up for PC coach James Barnett one more time for the North squad, including Daniela Pavlovich, Carly Gonet, Stephanie Wilson and Venessa Voss. They will be joined by LaMoille.Ohio’s Shiela Browning and Vanessa Martinez, Bureau Valley’s Helena Arnadottir and Nicole Bornsheuer, Seneca’s Jacey Lamboley and Ottawa’s Catie Carlson.

Peoria Christian’s Greg Myroth will direct the South girls team, which includes his daughter, Taylor, and Princeton’s Kelly Schmidt. Other team members will include Midland’s Sydney Foster, Streator’s Morgan Sharisky, and El Paso-Gridley’s Rebekah Ehresman , Anna Gauger and Codee Schlipf and Fieldcrest’s Haley Ruestman.

Putnam County will switch to the South sidefor the boys game, coached by Seneca’s Russel Witte. PCs Harold Fay and Evan Kresier will team up with Tri-County Conference rivals Jacob Martini of Marquette, Nick Varvil of Midland and Michael Doss of Roanoke-Benson along with Streator’s Nolan Sokol, Ottawa’s John Carroll and Chase Hill and Seneca’s Carter Gallick and Conlan Callahan.

Bureau Valley’s Jason Marquis will coach the North boys, including Storm players Ryan Young and David Miller.

“I’m excited for the opportunity. it will be a fun game for the seniors and we’ll have a good time,”Marquis said.

They will be joined by DePue’s Jose Raya, Hall’s Miguel Villarreal, Henry’s Nathan Helle, Jake Schlosser and Ryan Condit, Serena’s Quentin Laesch. La Salle-Peru’s Kaleb Jakse and Mendota’s Mark Prescott and Sam Bowne.

The girls game will tip off at 5:30 p.m. There will be a 3-Point Contest between games with the boys to follow.

Notes: Princeton’s Zoe Mead was voted to the game, but is unable to participate.
