PRINCETON — Hornbaker Gardens is hosting several art classes taught by artist Melody Best. Best is a fine art instructor in oil, watercolor and acrylics. She teaches landscape, still-life painting and botanical illustrations through workshops in Connecticut and worldwide.
Best was born and raised in Chicago. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University with an art major and psychology minor. She also studied at the Art Institute of Chicago; Nakurmo in Sasebo, Japan, Charles Vickory; and the New York Botanical Gardens, in order to fine-tune her style of painting.
Best will teach three classes. She will teach a mother-daughter theorem painting class with an early session from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and an afternoon session from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $45 and includes materials for both people.
She will teach a floral watercolor painting class from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 24. The cost is $65. Participants need to bring a bagged lunch and their own watercolor supplies. Beverages and snacks will be provided.
Her last class will be a theorem painting class from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7. Artists will complete two pieces. The cost is $65, all materials will be provided. Participants should bring a bagged lunch.
