UTICA — Starved Rock Lodge has teamed up with its sister store, Cattails, to open “The Studio.”
“We are pleased to announce a new and exciting series of art-inspired programs for 2014,” said Edna Daugherty, activities director for Starved Rock Lodge. “Classes are designed for anyone with a desire to create a work of art in a couple of hours.”
Daugherty said the workshops are perfect for mother/daughter get-togethers, girls’ night out, date nights for couples, bridal or baby showers, small group events and corporate team building.
Everything you need for the event will be included. No experience is necessary, but reservations are.
Local artists Hugo Heredia, Larisa Sarver, Christy Myers and Melody Best will lead painting and wine classes. Basket weaving (where all skill levels are welcome, even beginners) will be taught by Leesa Tipton. Heredia recently led the first class at The Studio with managers from Starved Rock Lodge as the participants.
Classes will be taught inside Cattails Gift Shop, which is located at the corner of Route 6 and Route 178 in Utica. Wine tasting is a natural complement to art classes because Cattails has its own wine tasting room and has been selling wine produced by Illinois vintners for more than 12 years.
Cattails is expanding the events it offers for this year with acoustic music on the patio this summer (May-October) and Chillin’ on 6, located next door, will open before the end of April, featuring a variety of homemade artisan ice cream, gelato, baked goods and old-fashioned candy and sodas.
