LASALLE – LaSalle‐Peru High School has its new head football coach.

James Bragg was appointed by the L-P Board of Education on Wednesday night as a new physical education teacher and varsity football coach.

Bragg comes to L-P from PORTA Community Unit School District in Petersburg, where he has been an assistant football coach since 2008.

He previously served as the head junior varsity football coach at PORTA.

His efforts at PORTA resulted in the team’s first All‐Conference and All‐State running back since 2009 and helped the Bluejays make it to the team’s first playoff appearance in four years.

Bragg also has been the PORTA head boys track coach since 2008.

Bragg has a bachelor’s degree in K‐12 physical education from Blackburn College.

While at Blackburn College, he was a member of the college’s football and basketball teams.

He was named to the 2007 UMAC All‐Conference Team as an offensive lineman and was a football team captain.
