The Heritage Corridor Community Associates will travel to Davenport on May 8 to visit the Figge Museum. Lunch will follow at the Bix Bistro at the Hotel Blackhawk. After lunch, there will be a self-guided tour of the Vander Veer Botanical Park.
The Figge Museum’s permanent holdings include many nationally and internationally known paintings. Housed in the museum are four specific collections: the American Collection which includes works from the colonial period to 1945; the Midwest Regionalist Collection which focuses on the works of Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton and John Steuart Curry; the Mexican Collection which documents the growth in New Spain in the 17th and 18th centuries; and the Haitian Collection which showcases the artistic tradition of the island nation since 1940.
The bus will depart from Peru, Ottawa and Morris to take participants to Davenport. For more information, call Barbara Mueller at 815-434-5218. The deadline to go on the trip is May 1.
