Open house

PRINCETON — Parent’s Day Out, located in the First United Methodist Church, is hosting an open house from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Beginning its fourth year, Parent’s Day Out is a quality, affordable and flexible childcare program which gives parents a break and offers structured activities for children. Parent’s Day Out is for children ages 2 to 4 years old and runs from September through May with classes from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Native plant sale

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its native prairie plant sale from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the USDA Service Center, 312 E. Backbone Road, Princeton. There are 37 different species available this year and cost $3 per plant.

MANLIUS — The Bureau Valley High School plant sale will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and 17 at the BVHS greenhouse.

Garden fair

PERU — The Illinois Valley Herb Guild will host its annual garden fair and plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the St. Bede Academy gymnasium. More than 60 varieties of herbs will be available. Herb guild members and master gardeners from the Illinois Extension will be on hand with expert advice.

Blood drive

BUDA — An American Red Cross blood drive will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 19 at the Buda Community Hall. To make an appointment, or for more information, call 800-RED CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification, are required at check-in.

Legion meeting

LADD — Harold E. Russell American Legion Post 938 will meet at 7 p.m. May 20 at the Legion Post in preparation of Poppy Days, Memorial Day events and upcoming Buffalo Day parade events.
