Widmark group to meet

PRINCETON — The Richard Widmark Centennial Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Princeton Public Library’s Matson Meeting Room. The public is invited to attend and get involved.

Film and discussion

PRINCETON — A film show and discussion, hosted by the Princeton Pease and Justice Roundtable, will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Princeton Public Library. The film will be “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.” This event is being held in conjunction with national Holocaust Remembrance Week.

CWU will host event

PRINCETON — Church Women United will have its May Friendship Day celebration at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Hampshire Colony Church in Princeton. All ladies are invited meet for coffee and goodies, and time in God’s word with a short program uniting all Christian women. For more information, call Sue Scruggs at 815-875-1446.

PRINCETON — The Princeton Red Hats will celebrate May Basket Day at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Princeton Elks Lodge.

Community Coffee

SHEFFIELD — The 1st United Church of Christ in Sheffield will hold its monthly community coffee from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday in parish hall.

Plant sale

MANLIUS — The Bureau Valley High School plant sale will take place from 8 a.m. to noon May 3, 10 and 17 at the BVHS greenhouse.

Pancake and sausage breakfast

LAMOILLE — Team Thrive of the Relay for Life of Bureau County will hold its annual pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the LaMoille Lions Club in LaMoille. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-10 and free for children under 5 years old. Tickets will be sold at the door. There will be a bake sale. All proceeds are donated to the Relay for Life of Bureau County.

Spring concert

SPRING VALLEY — Hall High School will hold its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Hall High School Auditorium. All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Hall Food Pantry. Admission is $5 or two non-perishable food items for adults and $3 or one non-perishable food item for students and seniors.

Meeting planned

WYANET — The Wyanet Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. May 6 at the historical hall. Members are asked to attend as plans will be made for the Memorial Day ice cream social.

Concert

OGLESBY — The Illinois Valley Community College Jazz Ensemble will perform a free concert at 7: 30 p.m. May 6 at IVCC’s Cultural Centre. The concert will be a tributes to swing and will include famous tunes such as “In the Mood,” “April in Paris” and “Sing, Sing, Sing.”

Townwide sales

LADD — Townwide garage sales in Ladd will be June 7. Residents wanting to be included on the sale map, at no additional fee, are asked to contact the village clerk’s office at 815-894-2440 or villageladd@comcast.net. The deadline to be added to the map is noon May 31. Sale maps will be available June 4 at Casey’s, North Central Bank, Ladd Village Hall or on the village’s website, www.vil.ladd.il.us. For more information, contact the Ladd village clerk.
