Dennis and Norma Lopez will note 50th anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Lopez of DePue will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a picnic from 12:30 to 5 p.m. May 24 at Oak Grove Park, Route 29 west of DePue. The event will be hosted by the couple’s daughters and their families.

Dennis Lopez and the former Norma Blair were married May 9, 1964, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in DePue. They are the parents of three daughters, Lynn (Roy) Perez of DePue, Karen (Jeff) Schwendinger of Granger, Iowa, and Nicki (Brad) McConnell of Bargersville, Ind. They also have seven grandchildren, Joe (Annabelle) Perez of Spring Valley, Michael Perez of Verona, Wis., Stacey Perez of Peoria, Steven and Ellie Schwendinger of Granger, Iowa, and Sydney and Kaden McConnell of Bargersville, Ind.; and two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Rhiannon of Spring Valley.

Dennis was a sheet metal worker at John’s Service and Sales in Oglesby and retired in January 2004. Norma worked at home as a self-employed beautician for more than 40 years and also worked part-time at Hyvee in Peru. They are members of the DePue Booster Club and enjoy playing cards, hunting, fishing, and spending time with their friends and family.
