Lady Bruins gain Saturday split with Fulton

St. Bede split a Saturday doubleheader with Fulton while Princeton dropped both ends to Sterling Newman.

At Peru: The Lady Bruins brought out their hitting shoes for Saturday’s first game to topple Fulton 14-7. Morgan Knoblauch had three hits with two RBIs and Emily Draper had three hits, including a RBI double. Tara Kunkel, Julia Pohar (2 RBI) and Gabby Morrow each added two hits in support of winning pitcher Emmi Christensen.

The Lady Steamers turned the tables in Game 2 with a 10-5 win. Draper added two more doubles for the Lady Bruins. Brianna Lau was tagged with the loss.

On Friday, St. Bede beat Mendota 8-5. Christensen scattered seven hits while allowing three earned runs. Knoblauch had two this and two RBIs, Morrow had two hits and Draper a RBI triple.

At Princeton: Newman plated three runs off PHS pitcher Madison Menzel in the fifth inning and hung on for a 7-5 win in the opener. Oeder and Julia Bauer each had two hits.

The Lady Comets banged out 15 hits in an 18-7 Game 2 victory. Holmbeck had two hits and two RBIs and Hughes knocked in two runs

Amboy rallied with three runs in the top of the sixth to knock off the Tigresses in Princeton Friday, 4-3. Abby Jaques had a home run and two RBIs for PHS. Courtney Oeder went 3-for-3 and Danielle Hughes and Alisa Holmbeck added two hits. Menzel was tagged for the loss.

LaMoille/Ohio 15, Hiawatha 14: The Lady Lions held on for a Little 10 Conference victory as Hiawatha scored six times in the bottom of the seventh Friday. Amanda Chasteen had four hits and Myrah Graham, Toni Lawrence and Lindsay Perry had three for the Lady Lions.

• Princeton swept a F/S doubleheader at Newman Saturday. Sarah Ray was the winning pitcher in a 15-2 Game 1 victory. Brianna Legner, Elysia King and Brooke Hieronymus (2 RBIs) each had two hits in the game and Hailey Schultz added a RBI double.

PHS won the second game 12-6 with Lexi Camp (triple, 2 RBIs) and Mady Cain (triple) collecting two hits. Hieronymus, the winning pitcher, had a two-run single, and Rachel Jensen and Schultz each hit safely.
