PRINCETON — April was National Children and Youth Month for the American Legion Auxiliaries across the nation and American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton observed this month by making a monetary donation to the Princeton Public Library Children’s Center on April 10.

Sherry DeSalle, Children and Youth chairman for Unit 125, presented a check to Paula Morrow, co-head librarian, for the children’s center to be used for the activities in this center.

The Unit has also collected toys for Christmas with a toy drive for many years for less fortunate children in the area and donated those toys to several non-profit organizations. The Unit will also provide warm clothing for Princeton Public Schools children needing gloves, hats, scarves, coats and boots. For information, contact the Legion Post by calling 815-872-1171 and leaving a message or call Sherry DeSalle at 815-872-1417 or Carol Allicks at 815-872-7891. The Unit also supports the local “Buddy Bags” program and the “Youth Service Bureau” of Princeton.

Monetary donations can be made to the Auxiliary Unit to continue these worthwhile programs. They can be mailed to ALA 125, 1549 W. Peru St., Princeton, IL 61356, Attn: ALA Programs.
