IVCC hosts signing party

OGLESBY — Illinois Valley Community College hosted a National Junior College Athletic Association volleyball signing a party Wednesday, bringing 10 recruits into the Eagles Nest.

Among the recruits signing NJCAA letters of intent included Rebecca Hult of Princeton High School, Vanessa Olivares of Hall High School; Morgan Bosnich of St. Bede Academy and Taylor Erjavsek, Putnam County High School.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to be able to continue playing and I think there is a lot of talent coming in so I’m excited to get started,” Bosnich said.

The recruiting list also includes Haley Duncan, LaSalle-Peru High School; Amy Rogowski, Marquette Academy; Emily Hackler, Ottawa High School; Morgan Sharisky and Julia Harcharik, Streator High School; and Mackenzie Kitterman, Galva High School.

Returning sophomores are Lindsay Gerding, formerly of Marquette, and Brianna Huss, L-P.

“The talent and experience of this class will continue IVCC’s volleyball success,” said coach Julie Sherbeyn who will depart IVCC this summer for a position at Eastern Wyoming College. “Their athleticism and competitive spirit will make a significant impact in the Arrowhead Conference and their leadership and academic ability will ensure great contributions to the campus.”

IVCC Athletic Director Tommy Canale said applications are being accepted for the volleyball position. He hopes to have Sherbeyn’s successor named by the end of May.
