On the road to perdition?
Sacred places (churches) are permitted to serve, promote worship, piety and religion. The dedication of such a place belongs to the diocesan Bishop, basically. Sacred places are desecrated by acts done in them which are gravely injurious and give scandal to the faithful. When a Bishop judges that these acts are so serious and so contrary to the sacred character of the church that worship may not be held there until harm is repaired by means of the penitential rite.
