BRADFORD — Opal Alverta Scott, 96, of Bradford died at 1:58 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

Born April 15, 1918, in New London, Iowa, to Everett and Ethel (Lukehart) Talbert, she married Thomas "Bill" Wayne Scott Aug. 9, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa. He died May 29, 1997.

She was a 1935 graduate of Bradford High School. She worked for 18 years for Browning Ford in Princeton.

She was a member of the Leet Memorial United Methodist Church in Bradford, Eastern Star and Bradford Saddle Tramps. For 23 years, they wintered at Tip-O-Texas.

Surviving are one son, Kenneth Wayne (Donna) Scott of Kewanee; one daughter, Nancy (Denny) Derick of Bradford; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Adis Crady and Betty Stansberry.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, at the Leet Memorial United Methodist Church, Bradford, with Pastor Amy Holman officiating. Burial will be in the Osceola Grove, rural Bradford.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford.

Memorials may be directed to the Leet Memorial United Methodist Church in Bradford and Bradford Rescue Squad.
