Lady Bruins play beat the Storm

St. Bede Lady Bruins beat the Storm on and off the softball field Monday.

Leadoff hitter Tara Kunkel and Tristin Phegley (RBI) each had two hits and a stolen base for St. Bede in a 5-3 win over the Bureau Valley Storm called by rain after five innings.

Emily Draper also had a RBI triple and Morgan Knoblauch had a hit, an RBI and two stolen bases for St. Bede.

Winning pitcher Brianna Lau scattered three hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

Darcy Kepner hit a two-run homer for the Storm.

Putnam County 2, Woodland 0: The Lady Panthers escaped with a six-inning win at home Monday called after delays for lightning and rain. Annie Miller (2-3) and Taylor Pettit each drove in runs for PC.

HBR 11, LaMoille/Ohio 6: The Royals scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning to top the Lady Lions in Little Ten Conference play Monday in LaMoille.

Orion 4, Hall 3: The Chargers returned to Spring Valley for the completion of a game suspended on April 28, scoring a run in the sixth inning to take home a victory 14 days later. The game was tied 3-3 when the game was first suspended.

Hall was shutout over three innings Monday by Orion reliever Diamond. Taggart Venegas, A.J. Gaeta and Colton Zibert each collected RBIs for the Red Devils (18-4, 8-2) in the game.
