Arvid Magnuson

HENRY — Arvid “Ray” Magnuson, 58, of Henry died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born June 28, 1955, in Princeton to Charles Richard “Dick” and Beverly Jean (Callahan) Magnuson.

He had served his country during the Vietnam era in the U.S. Navy and was wounded from his service.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Henry, the Henry American Legion, Paralyzed Veterans of America and the D.A.V.

Surviving are three brothers, Steven and Wayne (Mary Ann) Magnuson, both of Henry, and Gale (Mickey) Magnuson of Lacon; one sister, Joy (Brian) Grose of Sparland; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 23, at the First Christian Church in Henry with the Rev. Pat Jones and Brian Grose officiating. Burial will follow in the Putnam Cemetery, Putnam, with full military rites accorded.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, at the Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, “Downtown Chapel,” 416 Edward St. Henry.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors.
