Lunch in the Park

PRINCETON — Lunch in the Park will kick off Friday at Princeton’s Soldiers and Sailors Park. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Open Prairie UCC will be offer the lunch and the Christ Community Church Mission Team will provide the bake sale.

Cookout planned

WYANET — The Wyanet Boy Scouts will host a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wyanet Locker. The menu will be rib eyes, butterfly chops, pork burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips and pop.

Craft show

UTICA — The Utica Fire Department will host a craft show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at their station located on Route 178 just off of Route 6. Disaster Dogs of Illinois Central Task Force will be there with three dogs. They will have a few things to raffle off and some “Support K9 Search and Rescue” stickers for sale. The group, which has its home base in Spring Valley, is still raising funds for uniforms as well as vet expenses and vehicle updates.

Ice cream social

WYANET — An ice cream social will be held Monday at the Wyanet Memorial Park following the 10 a.m. VFW parade and Memorial Day services at the cemetery.

The menu will include barbecue, hot dogs, potato chips, beverage, ice cream and cake. Proceeds will benefit the Wyanet Historical Society. The historical building, located at 320 E. Second, one block east of the park, will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., during and after the ice cream social.

Pancake breakfast

PRINCETON — The Princeton Veterans Group will hold a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon June 1 at the American Legion building. Tickets are available from any Princeton veteran or by calling the post home at 815-872-1171; some tickets will be available at the door. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, eggs, applesauce, cold cereal and beverages. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for ages 8 and over. There will also be a 50/50. This is a major fundraiser for the group so they can continue to support their veterans projects.

Ladd reunion meeting

LADD — An informational meeting will be held at 12:30 p.m. June 1 in Ladd’s Community Center to discuss the all Ladd grad Grade School class reunion to be held during Ladd’s 125th anniversary celebration in July 2015. Everyone is encouraged to attend. For more information, contact Dave at 815-894-3257.

Quilters guild meeting

PRINCETON — The Covered Bridge Quilters Guild will meet at 7 p.m. June 5 at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 24 N. Main St. Princeton. Participants should enter through the front door, just off of Main Street. The program, “Hand Dyed Fabric Trunk Show,” will be presented by Natalie Mouow. Guests are welcome to attend for a $5 fee.
